Mesmer’s Glass Concert Directed by Ali Morrison

Register to participate in a unique and exciting ensemble!
Rehearsal 9:30am-11:00am Lions Event Centre
– Please arrive on time and bring your own glass or porcelain “instruments” – 4-6 pieces – a variety of tumblers, goblets, baking bowls, fishbowls, bottles, large vases, whatever! Creativity and experimentation are key. Label your instruments on the bottom with your name. Bring them in a sturdy box big enough to allow all to stand upright when they have been filled with water.
– Instruments will be “tuned” by adding water, Ali will teach everyone playing techniques and how to create themes. Players will be divided into smaller groups of 4 – 6 people and the groups will create their own special melodies and rhythms.
– After rehearsal, store your instruments in their box on the tables provided.
Concert 3:00pm Lions Event Centre
– Please arrive at 2:45pm.
– Everyone will be given a tealight candle in a jar and, on cue, will form a large circle in the event centre, and sit down on the floor with their instruments and tealights.
– When the overhead lights go OFF, participants will perform their concert as rehearsed.
– Overhead lights will go ON.
– Everyone will put their instruments back in their boxes to take with them when they leave.
Concurrent Activities Inside the Lions Event Centre
Puppet Pop Up – WP Puppet Theatre – south end of LEC – drop in puppet making
Marketplace – Artist booths around the perimeter of the building
These activities will be temporarily suspended and all asked to be quiet during the concert.
