And We Have Lift Off!

Tuesday evening, May 4th, CIAS launched its FIRST online arts course, Weaving Words – A Writers’ Workshop! Managed by our intrepid Meeting Host, Charlie Burns, the class ran smoothly, and the participants were enthusiastically engaged in the interactive presentation by Instructor, Charlotte Nixon. Charlotte is a member of the Alberta Playwright’s Network and of the Playwrights Guild of Canada. She has published numerous children’s plays, written commissions for various Calgary theatre groups and has devoted over 14 years providing theatre experience working with young people.

Weaving Words is an opportunity for writers to get much needed feedback on their draft compositions and participate in guided activities such as pitching their work and giving feedback. All are encouraged to submit a work or passage for the group to provide observations. All works are accepted and appreciated. The initial homework assignment was to craft a 3-5 minute “elevator pitch” for a current or planned piece of work.
