September 11 and 12 afternoons, Cochrane Culture Days will present so many performers, family activities and artisan crafts!
“Centre Stage” (Lions Club Event Centre parking lot) will be alive with multicultural music, dancing, and drumming groups. Sit on the grass amphitheatre and enjoy, Bolivian pan flute, Celtic band and Cochrane’s own dance studios’ dancers, Thai and Bhangra dancing and the Mini Thni Dancers! Be moved by the drumming from Japanese taiko to Stoney Nakoda. Join in a djembe circle.
“Front Stage” (Centennial Plaza on Main Street) leads off with The Cochrane Pipe Band and moves into jazz, folk, fusion and Dixie with bands and choirs from Cochrane, Canmore and Calgary plus the Mini Thni Dancers.
REGISTER ONLINE NOW to play in the Mesmer’s Glass Concert at “Upstage” (Lions Club Event Centre) on Saturday. No experience needed!
On Saturday, bring your kids to make their very own puppets at the Puppet Pop Up! All materials and helpers provided.
On Sunday, and move the earth in a mass percussion event on “found” instruments” at !BOOM! She Said. No registration needed – just drop in.
Both days, check out the Marketplace (Lions Club Event Centre) with tempting artisan wares of all kinds. Original art, giclee, cards, wooden signs, bead bracelets, leather goods, charcuterie boards, children’s books, earrings, prints, fused glass, amber jewellery, candles, ISOLOVEPLAY boxes ….and MORE! Be sure to stop by the CIAS booth to find out about our arts courses!
It all leads up to our headline performer, Jessica McMann – musician, contemporary dancer, composer, choreographer, and nominee for the Prophets of Music Emerging Artist Award for the YYC Music Awards, (and Cochranite!) – at Centre Stage, Sunday 4pm!
